It includes 12 cookery videos containing over 3 1/2 hours of professional teaching with 12+ recipes and is suitable for students with learning difficulties which include acute anxiety, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD.

You’ll have got the gist by now that I am desperate to teach teenagers to cook and along the way help them to understand how critical it is for their all-round health.


With my qualified ‘Naturopathic Nutrition Therapist’ head speaking, this is even more critical for SEND students.

Addiction to sugar and Ultra-processed food, all beautifully designed by big food manufacturers, causes havoc to our whole bodies and I noted that my students enjoyed these foods.


I have had the pleasure of teaching students from the Wemm’s Education Centre, a local school for students with autism and anxiety.

These students often presented with other disabilities including dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, dyspraxia, epilepsy.

Memory was often be frustrating too along with more significant physical disabilities.

These students also had a heightened sense of concern over hygiene and food safety and many had a reduced palate, with concern about new ingredients and not being willing to try new foods.

So, what to do?

I found that a consistent approach using the following techniques was invaluable:

  • Spotless kitchen

  • Organisation of ingredients

  • Using professional chef’s knives and tools safely

  • Growing and picking ingredients from the garden

  • Discussing what to look for when buying meat/fish/eggs

  • A clear time plan

  • Washing up as you go

  • Tasting along the way (no double dipping!)

  • Eating the recipe straight away!

  • Short, simple recipes

As soon as you have booked your course you will receive a friendly welcome email which will include your recipe pack, an introduction to the course and a link to the videos.

Choose Your Own Start Date

Everyone has a busy life, so you get to choose when you'd like to start the course and take a break if you have a holiday. Fill the dates in on your registration form and submit it to get started.

Videos For Life

There are over 3 1/2 hours of teaching videos during this course. After you have finished you will have access to the videos for life.

If you have a younger sibling, they can do the course too, just paying for the AAP administration fee instead.

Never forget that you are not alone. I are here to support you all the way and if you get delayed during your course, just get in touch and we can make a plan. If you remember you require alternative recipes for any reason, just let me know!

Dietary Adaptions

All the courses are suitable for all diets. Just let me know when you fill in your registration form and I will make sure you have appropriate recipes to suit your needs. I am a specialist teacher in gluten and dairy-free diets.

FAQs

How quickly can I start the course?

When you want! As soon as you have booked the course you will receive a registration form. When this has been returned to Be you can start.

How do you assess my cooking?

Take a photo of your completed recipe (before you eat it!) and fill out the self-assessment sheet. At the halfway point you send them to Be via whatsapp or email and she will give you enthusiastic feedback. Repeat for the second set of recipes.

What if I want to continue for a 6 month skill?

That's easy. Just email Be and let her know, then book your next course.

What if I can't find all the ingredients?

All the recipes use 'easy to find' ingredients, but if you get stuck you can either improvise or email Be for a suggestion.

How do I book the course?

What happens when I have finished cooking all the recipes?

Be will write a final report which she wil submit to DofE. She will then send you a copy along with your certificate. She will also forward confirmation of her AAP report being received by DofE.
